Sony’s PlayStation Vue live TV streaming service has been aggressively adding local channels.
The PlayStation Vue now offers CBS in most US markets. Now it is hard at work adding NBC stations to its lineup.
Over the weekend we heard from several readers who told us that NBC 10 in Boston was added to the PlayStation Vue service in Boston. This station is owned by NBCUniversal and is the newest OTA TV station owned NBCUniversal. Recently NBC pulled rights for the NBC network from WHDH Channel 7 in Boston and moved the NBC programing to Channel 10, a new NBCUniversal-owned channel.
NBCUniversal has owned NBC 10 for several months now but only just recently added it to the PlayStation Vue lineup. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for NBC-owned channels.
Many Boston-area residents will be happy to hear that NBC 10 has joined PlayStation Vue. When the network moved NBC shows from Channel 7 to Channel 10 about half of Boston lost access to the channel with an antenna.
Although NBCUniversal has been working on improving OTA reception, it has been a slow process. In December 2016 it announced a deal to increase coverage of the greater Boston area; however, it still lacks the coverage of the older Channel 7.
