In another move to break away from video and focus on gaming, PlayStation announced in a blog post Tuesday that it will no longer offer movie and TV purchases and rentals through the PlayStation Store beginning August 31, 2021.

PlayStation notes that the move is being made based on a “shift in consumer behavior” toward subscribing to streaming services to watch content, rather than renting and buying titles directly through the PlayStation Store.

Titles that have already been purchased will still be available on users’ PS4, PS5, and mobile devices.

“We thank our fans for their continued support, and we look forward to further enhancing the entertainment experience on PlayStation,” the company shared in the blog post.
