Today the live TV streaming service Philo and Chicken Soup for The Soul Entertainment announced a deal to bring its Chicken Soup For The Soul channel to Philo.
In total, Philo will be adding nine new free channels to its lineup. Now Philo subscribers will find these new channels added for free to their subscription. These new channels include INFAST, INTROUBLE, INWONDER, Vevo 80s, Vevo 90s, Vevo Country, Vevo Hip-Hop, Vevo Pop, and Chicken Soup for the Soul. These channels will go live later this morning.
This news comes as earlier this year, Philo recently added the Bob Ross, Comedy Dynamics, Cowboy Way, Drag Race Universe, FailArmy, Outside TV, People are Awesome, the Pet Collective, and ScreamBox TV.
“Philo offers a great mix of premium and free live-streaming television channels which we’re pleased to have Chicken Soup for the Soul become part of,” said Philippe Guelton, chief revenue officer of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment. “Our channel has so much great content that will entertain viewers for hours, including our branded content series like At Home with Genevieve and Wedding Talk. In addition, now through the end of the year, we’re streaming romantic holiday movies – all for free.”
Philo has recently been slowly expanding the number of channels it offers and making deals to keep the channels it has. Last fall, Philo renewed its carriage deal with Crown Media, ensuring Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama, and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries will remain on the Live TV service. This news comes just in time for Hallmark’s most important time of the year, the holiday movie season, which has proven to be a big driver in Philo’s subscriber numbers.
Philo has repeatedly said it is committed to offering a low-price service free of high costs sports channels that drives up the cost of many live TV streaming services. Now they have slowly started to build up the number of channels they offer.
Philo lineup includes over 70 live channels, while Frndly‘s subscribers can watch over 40 channels live and on-demand (channel listings are subject to change).
