Today the live TV streaming service Philo announced that it had added the USA TODAY channel to help bring news to its live TV streaming service.

“We’re super excited to launch another new channel for our Philo community – USA TODAY. Offering news, entertainment and lifestyle content that brings viewers helpful tips and information about people and communities worldwide, USA TODAY is packed with unique storytelling spanning the nation’s news to heartwarming human moments, sports, and pop culture.” Philo said in a statement on their website.

The USA TODAY channel features include Humankind Connection, Problem Solved, Sister Cities, States Of America and Entertain This. The channel also features segments from USA TODAY Money, Alive & Well with Michelle Harris, Elevator Pitch from Entrepreneur, Female Founders with Rachel McCord, Talk Back to Television, and tentpole events, including USA TODAY’s Women of the Year. Viewers are also treated to powerful documentaries, including Taken: A Hostage Story, Healing The Harm, Hell Or High Seas and Behind The Blue Wall of Silence.

With this addition, Philo’s base package now offers 70+ channels. At this time, all of this content comes to subscribers without any price change to Philo’s $25 base package.

Earlier this year, Philo added the Smithsonian Channel and POP to its lineup.

This all comes after last fall, Philo renewed its carriage deal with Crown Media, ensuring Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama, and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries will remain on the Live TV service. This news comes just in time for Hallmark’s most important time of the year, the holiday movie season, which has proven to be a big driver in Philo’s subscriber numbers.

Philo remains committed to offering a low-price service free of high costs sports channels that drives up the cost of many live TV streaming services.
