This week Showtime was rebranded. The new name is Paramount+ with Showtime. This is the same name as the premium bundle of the Paramount+ streaming service but, as of right now, does not include Paramount+. Instead, the YouTube TV Paramount+ with Showtime add-on just offers the old Showtime networks. (Again: It does not include the Paramount+ streaming service).
Last month, Paramount announced that the Showtime TV Network will be rebranded as Paramount+ with Showtime. This follows the early 2023 announcement that the SHOWTIME streaming apps will shut down and be merged into the Paramount+ app. Now, the TV Network has been rebranded as the app adds programming from Paramount+.
The new rebranded network will continue to air Showtime Original series, including A Gentleman in Moscow, the George Clooney executive-produced The Department, and The Woman in the Wall as well as the award-winning and culture-shifting Showtime hits Fellow Travelers, The Chi, The Curse, Yellowjackets, and Your Honor. You will also find Paramount+ programming airing on the network when the rebrand happens, including Halo (S1), Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown (S1-2), Star Trek: Discovery (S1-4), and Wolf Pack (S1).
Some services, such as DIRECTV, Spectrum, Hulu, and DIRECTV STREAM, are including free Paramount+ if you subscribe to the newly renamed Paramount+ with Showtime channel. At this time, YouTube TV has not announced if they will also include free Paramount+ streaming if you subscribe to the TV channel.
Paramount+ with Showtime network on YouTube TV is $10.99 a month. The Paramount+ with Showtime streaming service is $11.99 a month.
Be aware if you subscribe to Paramount+ with Showtime through some services like YouTube TV. It may be less expensive, but it doesn’t include all the same content that the Paramount+ streaming service offers. YouTube TV’s live channel does include on-demand access to programs on the old Showtime TV network and at this time it does not include content that only streams through the Paramount+ streaming service.
With this rebranding, this week the confusion surrounding Paramount+ streaming service that also includes a Paramount+ with Showtime plan and the newly rebranded Showtime TV channel to Paramount+ with Showtime has grown. To make it even more confusing, there is a second TV network called Paramount.
So, to get the content you want, make sure you do your research and know what you are subscribing to.
