The Pac-12 Network as we know it is about to see a major change. The network dedicated to all things Pac-12 conference sports will be covering only two teams later this year.
Now the Pac-12 Network has announced that it is planning to continue operations but just for studio shows for the two remaining schools: Oregon State and Washington State. All the other schools in the conference are leaving this summer (2024).
Studio operations for the Pac-12 Network will continue through the 2024–2025 season, but beyond that is unknown.
The Pac-12 network has struggled since launch to find carriage deals with major cable TV companies and streaming services. This limited reach has hurt profitability compared to other conference networks like the SEC Network or the Big Ten Network that bring in millions for their schools.
The future of the TV rights for Oregon State and Washington State is still unknown, especially for smaller sports that had previously aired on the conference network. The other schools currently in the Pac-12 are moving to the Big Ten, SEC, or ACC this summer.
Beyond the 2024–2025 season, the future of the Pac-12 Network is uncertain and many wonder if the network can be profitable covering just two schools.
