Nielsen: Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ Clocked 4.1 Billion Viewing Minutes After Season 4 Release

Netflix’s Ozark fanbase really showed up for the release of Season 4 Part 1. According to Nielsen, the series pulled in 4.1 billion minutes of viewership following its Jan. 21 premiere, one of the four highest viewership numbers since Nielsen began its measurement.

The only other times a program has broken the 4 billion mark were all during lockdown, twice by Netflix’s Tiger King and one other time by Ozark.

Prior to the week ending Jan. 30., Ozark had been showing up on the list as viewers caught up or were introduced for the first time before the explosive final two part season dropped. Season 4 Part 2 is scheduled to hit Netflix April 29.

The next title with the highest viewing time was none other than Encanto which has cemented itself as the new Frozen of Disney movies. It saw 1.3 billion minutes during that week.

As for Originals, Disney+ had another win with The Book of Boba Fett hitting 744 million minutes, followed by Netflix’s The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (a title that’s a novel in itself).

Reruns and older content dominated the Acquired list lead by NCIS, Criminal Minds and Cocomelon. How I Met Your Mother made an appearance at the bottom of the list, likely sparked from nostalgia surrounding the release of Hulu‘s new How I Met Your Father series.

Aside from Encanto, Disney+ had a several other titles rank on the top ten list, including The Ice Age Adventure of Buck Wild, Eternals, Moana, and Frozen. Netflix dominated most of the others with Home Team, The Royal Treatment, and more.
