The NFL is now offering its NFL Network and NFL RedZone features directly to fans through its dedicated streaming platform, NFL+, but also adding a price increase to both of its plans.

The price of the basic NFL+ package rose by $2 to $6.99 a month. The premium package, which now includes NFL Network and NFL RedZone, goes up by $5 to $14.99. The price for the annual rate, $39.99 for basic and $79.99 for premium, remains unchanged. You can look at the packages here.

The move grants fans direct access to NFL Network’s expansive coverage, exclusive content, and expert analysis. It’s also reflective of the shifting desires of consumers seeking more access to their content on multiple devices. NFL+ offers games and more content on your phone, tablet, TV or PC.

It’s also the latest service to raise prices at a time when content costs are on the rise. Disney+ unveiled new higher rates coming in the next few months, which followed similar hikes by the likes of YouTube TV over the last few months.

An NFL spokesman wasn’t immediately available to comment on the pricing change.

By embracing a direct-to-consumer model, the NFL is not only acknowledging the modern viewer’s desire for streaming services but also securing a deeper connection with its fan base. This strategic pivot allows the league to retain a direct grip on content distribution while catering to the digitally-savvy audience that increasingly gravitates towards on-demand entertainment.

The timing of this announcement couldn’t be more perfect. With football’s popularity soaring to new heights and media consumption habits undergoing a rapid transformation, the NFL is seizing the moment to claim its stake in the digital entertainment landscape. By blending NFL RedZone’s riveting live coverage with a diverse lineup of engaging content, the league is setting the stage for a touchdown in the realm of sports entertainment streaming.

On a whole, the NFL’s decision to introduce NFL Network and NFL RedZone through its streaming platform marks the latest step in the league’s evolving approach to content distribution and audience engagement. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the NFL’s strategic embrace of direct-to-consumer streaming showcases its commitment to staying ahead of the curve and delivering a tailor-made entertainment experience for football aficionados worldwide.
