The long awaited second generation Nvidia Shield the flagship Android TV streaming player is almost here. The current Nvidia Shield has four times the processing power of the current Fire TV 2, according to Nvidia and the new Shield is expected to be even more powerful.
Now Slash Gear is reporting that NVIDIA will reveal a new piece of Android TV hardware in their NVIDIA SHIELD line of devices at CES 2017. Thanks to AFTVnews we can take a look at the FCC filing and get some kind of idea of what it will look like. According to the filing the new remote will be smaller and will not include the headphone jack on the controller; however, it could still be on the remote.
The new model number is P2897 abd FCC ID VOB-P2897 and the current model number for the Nvidia Shield is P2570.
For now that is all we know as most of the documents are redacted. Yet we would not be surprised to find out there is a new processor and graphics card inside the new Nvidia Shield. According to rumors the graphics chip in the current Nvidia Shield will be in the new Nintendo game system. Nvidia likely wants to free up inventory to meet the demand that Nintendo is likely to need for their new device.
Cord Cutters News will be at CES and will do our best to give a hands on review of the new Nvidia Shield.
