New Evidence That We May Soon See a New Fire TV from Amazon

Fire TV 36Evidence is quickly mounting that we will see a new Fire TV or Fire TV Stick soon.

Elias, from AFTVnews.com, found a few different pieces of info that together make it sound like Amazon is close to a Fire TV 3 or a new Fire TV Stick.

So what is this evidence?

First you have to look at Amazon India, which does not have a Fire TV for sale in India. Recently someone set up a redirect on Amazon.in/FireTV to go to a new web page on the Amazon site that hits a 404 page. Inside the URL of the redirect is the product ID code “B01EU2M62S.”

“When I try to look up that ASIN value using Amazon’s product API, it comes up as ‘not accessible.’ This is distinctly different from an actual 404 product ASIN, which comes up as ‘not a valid value.’ The ‘not accessible’ classification usually indicates a product that is in Amazon’s product database, which has not yet been revealed to the public,” says Elias on AFTVnews.com.

This would not be the first time an Amazon redirect link gave away a new product ID; however, we could still be a few months away from the new Fire TV device or it could be just a few weeks or even days.

So what do I think this device is?

The Fire Stick is the oldest Fire TV device on the market. Although it did get a voice remote last year, the Fire Stick itself is effectively the same as it was when it was first released a few years ago. The Fire TV Stick is the most likely device to be released this fall but a new Fire TV box is also possible.

Maybe we will get lucky and find an FCC filing or some other details will leak but for now all we can do is wait for the Amazon announcement.
