Netflix’s popular superhero series The Umbrella Academy has been renewed for Season 3. The streaming original is set to start production in Toronto, Canada in Feb. 2021, with no release date yet. It’s slated to have 10 episodes like the previous 2 seasons.

This news comes just as Season 2 premiered July 31 on Netflix, rising to claim more views than any title on any other streaming service in August 2020. According to 7Park Data, almost 20% of people polled watched the superhero show in August making it the top viewed program that month.

Season 3 will feature returning cast members Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore.

In The Umbrella Academy, 43 infants are born in 1989, to women who showed no signs of pregnancy. Seven of the 43 are adopted by a billionaire, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who creates The Umbrella Academy to prepare his “children” to save the world. Six of the original seven come back together when their “father” passes away. They work together to uncover a mystery, while dealing with a global apocalypse. The series is based on Graphic novels created by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way.
