Netflix subscribers in Australia are seeing a rise in their monthly fee for some packages. An article from New Idea in Australia says that premium subscription plans are going up from $17.99 to $19.99, while basic packages will remain at $9.99 and $13.99. According to the article, subscribers will see the rise in price over the next few weeks.
This is the statement Netflix gave about the price hike:
“We change our prices from time to time and continue to invest heavily to grow in the depth and breadth of our content such as new shows like The Politician, Unbelievable, well-loved series like Stranger Things, The Good Place and The Crown, as well as improvements to our product. Our basic and standard memberships will remain at the same price, ensuring as many people as possible can enjoy our content.”
Again, this price increase is only for subscribers in Australia, but could be an indication of further price hikes on other packages and in other locations. We’ll keep an eye on any changes for Netflix US subscribers and will post updates when we get them.
