Today Netflix announced that they will be renewing Lost in Space for a second season. The reboot of the classic show has turned out to be a huge hit with Netflix subscribers who have been loudly asking for a second season.

Here is a trailer for Lost in Space:

From Netflix:

The Robinson family, part of a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space, is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet.

This was not the first attempt at a reboot of Lost in Space after the 1998 film series rights holder Synthesis Entertainment tried to get NBC to pick up a new show and the deal fell apart. In 2003 a John Woo-helmed TV pilot was offered to the now-defunct WB Network, which quickly passed on the pilot. No other networks seemed interested.

It has now been about 50 years since the original Lost in Space aired. The show was made by Twentieth Century Fox-produced and had three seasons and a total of 83 episodes, is still in syndication today.
