Netflix is the Most Trouble-Free Service, Survey Shows

When it comes to streaming, it’s tough to beat the king. Netflix claimed another victory this week when J.D. Power declared them the most trouble-free streaming service.

In a study conducted in late April 2020 (the TMT Insight COVID-19 Pulse Report), the data analytics company perhaps best known for its automobile awards asked U.S. consumers about their experience with various streaming services. And while things were mostly error-free across the board, there was a clear winner.

Out of every hour streamed, Netflix users say they just have .07 technical problems (or one problem for every 14 hours streamed). Amazon Prime and Hulu both claimed the second spot with .11 errors per hour (one problem every 9 hours), Disney+ claimed fourth place with .12 errors per hour (a problem every 8 hours) and YouTube TV claimed fifth with .17 per hour (one problem about every six hours).

Netflix also emerged as the winner when people were asked what service they would keep if they could only choose one. 55% picked Netflix with about 18% keeping Amazon Prime, 14% Hulu, and Disney+ 5%. Other services made up the remaining.

It’s not clear what other services were a part of this study as J.D. Power simply lumped everyone else into an “all others” category.

In a streaming world where it seems there’s a new service on the scene every week, reliability certainly matters. And if any other services ever want to challenge Netflix, they’d best keep their errors to a minimum.
