Netflix is Ending Support for Older Roku Players, Vizio TVs, & Samsung TVs Tomorrow

, ,

If you own an older Roku player, Vizio, or Samsung smart TV, you may be looking for a new streaming player tomorrow. Netflix has announced that starting tomorrow, December 1st, 2019, they will be ending support for older Roku Players, Vizio TVs, and Samsung smart TVs. Now it is important to note that these are older Roku players, Vizio TVs, and Samsung smart TVs.

A notice on the Samsung website is letting Samsung TV users know that at the end of this year, Netflix will no longer be available on select devices.  Here’s the full message from Samsung:

Netflix will no longer be available on this device

Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be supported on some devices beginning on December 1st, 2019. Some older Samsung smart TV’s are affected by this change. In the future, Netflix can be viewed from many other devices capable of connecting to your TV.

Although some of our older TV’s will no longer support Netflix directly beginning December 1st, 2019, many other devices you may have connected to your TV are still supported. You can find a list from Netflix at As long as you have one of the supported devices, like a game console, streaming media player, or set-top box, you’ll still be able to watch Netflix on your TV.

Those who are using one of the devices that will no longer be supported will likely need to purchase a new streaming device to continue watching content with their Netflix subscription. While investing in another device may not be ideal, this will also allow users to continue using existing streaming services, along with having access to new services like Apple TV+, Disney+, and HBO Max. It’s possible that older devices won’t always meet the requirements for each new service or offer the updates to support them.

To see if your device is supported by Netflix, you can find the full list of supported devices here.

If your TV or Roku Player is one of the models that will be losing Netflix support, there is an easy way to know. When you launch your Netflix app, if you are losing Netflix, a popup message will inform you that on December 1st, 2019, Netflix will be ending support.

If you need a new streaming player, you can find deals on Roku Players HERE and on Fire TV Sticks HERE.
