Today Netflix announced that they have partnered with Dolly Parton to create a new Netflix Original. The new show will be based on her music with each episode focusing on a song by her.

“As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music,” Parton said. “I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix. We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support.”

This is not the first time Netflix has done a show like this. A few years ago Netflix created Beat Bugs a show based on music from the Beatles. Dolly Parton has already done similar deals to this with a series of NBC standalone TV movies based on her music called “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors,” followed by “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love” the following year.

In total there will be 8 episodes and the show is expected to be released in 2019.
