Netflix and Amazon Receive 17 Golden Globe Nominations

The Golden Globes award show is almost here and nominations were announced yesterday. Once again Netflix and Amazon received a fair amount of attention this year.

In the past “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black” have been the big winners for Netflix. This year newer shows such as “Stranger Things” and “The Crown” are leading the way for Netflix with nominations for best drama series.

Amazon was nominated for best motion picture for its Manchester By The Sea and also received nods for best performance by an actor, best director, and best screenplay to name a few.

The last few years Netflix has taken home more awards than Amazon. The real question now is will this year be a repeat or is this the year Amazon comes home with the most awards.

Last year Netflix and Amazon took home the most nominations beating out traditional winners such as HBO; however, this year HBO is once again on top.

The number of nominations shows that many of the best movies and TV shows on TV are not on cable. Many of this years’ nominations are only available on stream—not something you will be able to find through your cable TV service.
