4 woman sitting on bench handmaids taleWhen looking at who is dominating cord cutting it’s hard to ignore Netflix and Amazon, but Hulu is rapidly growing.

To figure out who is currently leading the world of subscription video services, we asked over 3,000 of our readers what streaming services they use. According to our readers, 73.3% pay for Amazon and 70.1% pay for Netflix.

The dominance of Netflix and Amazon is no surprise, but Hulu’s recent growth may surprise you. According to our readers, 44.9% of them subscribe to Hulu. This is up from 39% in the summer of 2018.

This growth by Hulu moves them over YouTube as the third-largest cord cutting service in the United States.

In the summer of 2018, Netflix and Amazon tied at 72.6%. Now there has been slight growth for Amazon and slight pullback for Netflix with cord cutters. It will be interesting to see if that trend continues, but Amazon has been working hard to push their service to cord cutters.

A few other notable services used by cord cutters are:

  • YouTube: 41.7%
  • CBS All Access: 13.8%
  • Google Play: 10.4%
  • HBO Now: 9.9%
  • iTunes: 5.5%
  • Showtime: 5%
  • ESPN+: 4.2%
  • Starz: 0.8%
