A few weeks ago PlayStation Vue dropped NESN from their lineup. Now it looks like talks between NESN and Sony to bring NESN back to PlayStation Vue are not going well. In an email sent to NESN supporters, Peter Plaehn NESN Vice President of Affiliate Relations warned that if they have PlayStation Vue switching may be the best option to get NESN.

Here is the email NESN sent supports today:

Thank you for having called as we appreciate the opportunity to communicate directly – and we share your displeasure. To update you, I wish I had some positive news to share regarding the situation but that is not the case. We very much understand yours and others’ frustration. Over the years, NESN has successfully concluded hundreds of similar negotiations but that is unfortunately not the case this time. The whole matter is disappointing and remains surprising considering we were told of our carriage termination less than 24 hrs before expiration of the agreement – despite our offer of an extension of the then current agreement. In my opinion, Sony Vue’s decision to take Red Sox games and Bruins Stanley Cup coverage away from you and their other customers was unnecessary to continuing negotiations together – I find it puzzling still.

Not that you want to, I understand, but canceling and switching to another provider may be your only option to get NESN. In the days ahead we will be letting the public know what their best possibilities are in terms of switching to other providers for NESN. However, you may want to consider reaching out to PlayStation Vue directly and asking them about their decision and what they may be thinking going forward with regards to NESN.

Sony has not responded yet but here is the statement Sony emailed PlayStation Vue subscribers when they first dropped NESN:

Hello,

As of April 19, 2019, PlayStation Vue will no longer carry the NESN channel, and all associated On Demand and DVR content will no longer be viewable.

We are regularly evaluating the PlayStation Vue service to ensure we are offering a compelling value to our customers. As part of this ongoing evaluation, we have determined that this change was necessary for us to continue to provide the best value for our customer base.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please use our live chat function to connect with a PlayStation Vue team member or modify your subscription here.

To watch tonight’s Bruins game tune to NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) at 7PM ET.

Thank you for being a valued PlayStation Vue subscriber.
