Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) have been struggling lately. AT&T SportsNets shutdown recently and Bally Sports is in bankruptcy. Now NBC Sports may lose the MLB White Sox, NBA Bulls, and NHL Blackhawks. According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, these team’s contracts end in October, and they are looking at moving to the Stadium Network that is produced right inside the Bulls facility.

Though there is talk of a short-term extension that would see the Bulls and Blackhawks finish their 2024-2025 season on NBC Sports before moving to the Stadium Sports Network.

Stadium Sports Network is a 24/7 sports network launched by Sinclair but recently sold to Silver Chalice. The network has a free feed on several services and is also on paid services like FuboTV, The Roku Channel, and YouTube TV. It is reported that the network will transform more into a regional sports network and will work on expanding its distribution to cable TV services in the area.

According to the report, Stadium will also work on offering a direct-to-consumer streaming option through its streaming service.

This is one more group of teams looking for new options for their TV rights.

It is reported that an announcement could come as soon as this week. For now, we will have to wait and see what happens if an announcement is made.
