First up to strike a deal for mobile streaming rights is NBCUniversal. According to an announcement from NBCUniversal and the NFL have agreed to allow live streaming of Sunday Night Football on mobile devices. This means you will soon be able to watch Sunday Night Football streaming on your desktop, streaming players, smart TVs, tablet, and phones.
It is important to remember that according to the announcement, this new deal will not start until next season as Verizon still has exclusive rights until the end of 2017.
“This is an exciting day for NBC Sports. We have been streaming Sunday Night Football on numerous platforms since 2008, but as a result of this agreement, 2018 will be the first time we can stream primetime television’s No. 1 show on all digital platforms, creating a more seamless viewing experience for NFL fans,” said Rick Cordella, executive VP and General Manager, Digital Media, NBC Sports Group, in a statement. “In addition to fans, this mobile agreement benefits our distribution partners, local affiliates, and advertisers, as it significantly extends SNF’s digital reach.”
