The Mountain West just announced a major new media-rights deal that spreads its games across broadcast, cable, and streaming. The conference has landed the biggest media package in its history after securing deals with CBS Sports, FOX Sports, The CW, and streaming partner Kiswe. The agreements run through the end of the 2030-31/2031-32 cycles (CBS/FOX/Kiswe for six seasons; The CW for five).
With games streaming on FOX One, Paramount+, and the upcoming direct-to-consumer MW App developed by Kiswe, this is a clear upgrade in national linear exposure and a big push into the digital world that will change how fans watch Mountain West sports.
“By extending our partnerships across broadcast, cable, and streaming, this agreement elevates the Mountain West’s national profile while ensuring long-term stability,” added Commissioner Nevarez. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue to work with trusted partners CBS and FOX and are eager to begin our new affiliations with The CW and Kiswe.”
MWC Media Deal at a Glance
- Partners: CBS Sports, FOX Sports, The CW Network, and Kiswe. (Terms: six years for CBS/FOX/Kiswe; five years for The CW.)
- Big distribution: Games will air across CBS, CBS Sports Network, Paramount+, FOX, FS1, FS2, FOX One, and The CW.
- Game counts: 150+ live events each year on linear TV
- CBS Sports Network will carry 15 regular-season MW football games (plus at least one on CBS TV)
- FOX will air 12 regular-season football games annually and keep the Mountain West football championship
- The CW will carry an annual package (13 football games in 2026–27).
- Streaming shift: The conference is launching an enhanced, paid MW App (built with Kiswe) in July 2026 that will carry 1,000+ live events per year and on-demand replays.
- The MW App will also be available as a subscription through Prime Video and will be the exclusive streaming home for events not carried nationally.
“This evolution marks an exciting new chapter for the MW App,” said Nevarez. “Moving to a subscription model allows us to reinvest in smarter technology, richer content, and a more personalized experience for every user. It comes with built‑in, unlimited revenue upside. Institutions gain the ability to generate, expand, and control new earning potential without ceiling constraints, aligning growth directly with engagement.”
The conference has big plans for the MW App when it launches in July. Subscribers can choose between two pricing tiers via monthly or annual subscriptions and get unprecedented access. The app will feature on-demand full-game replays, 1,000+ live events, video podcast, original programming, highlights, features, and more. The Mountain West says the app will be available on Roku, Fire TV, Google Play, Android TV, and Apple TV, with more platforms to be announced.
Beyond the MW App itself, every Mountain West school will be able to host its own games directly on its official athletics website. Fans who subscribe to the MW App can log in and watch through either platform. The conference is framing this as a fan‑centric model that makes it easier for supporters to find their team’s games and experience them alongside the broader MW community.
In recent years, the Mountain West had a notable distribution move with Warner Bros. Discovery that put a slate of games on HBO Max and truTV. The new package significantly broadens the conference’s linear footprint by adding two major broadcast networks, CBS and The CW, while extending FOX. By marrying that exposure with a centralized streaming product, the MWC can route revenue back to member institutions.
“The Mountain West has an incredible vision for the future of their fan experience, and we are proud to be the technology partner powering it,” said Glenn Booth, CEO of Kiswe. “This ambitious project brings thousands of annual events across all sports into one seamless experience, built to deepen the connection between passionate fans and their favorite schools. We are thrilled to provide the infrastructure that helps the MW deliver this world-class streaming service to its member schools and their communities.
