NBC News Now, the streaming service from NBC News, will launch a morning show, Morning News Now, next week. The series will run Monday through Friday from 7-11 am ET, beginning October 12.
The show will cover topics including daily headlines, politics, and business.
When asked about how the new show will impact Today, NBC’s current daily news show, Janelle Rodriguez, senior VP of editorial for NBC News told Variety that the two will be able to coexist, with a few key differences.
“We don’t see it as in competition with ‘Today’ or MSNBC,” Rodriquez said. “There are millions of viewers who are getting their news exclusively on streaming… We want to be where our audience is.”
Morning News Now will reportedly focus on hard hitting news where Today includes celebrity guests and lighter segments to break up the day’s headlines.
NBC News Now launched in May 2019 and now has an audience of over 10 million unique viewers each month, according to Comscore. While NBC planned to launch the daily news show on NBC News Now earlier this year, the new four hour weekday programming was put on hold due to coronavirus.
Morning News Now will be available on Peacock, YouTube TV, Fubo, Xumo, Pluto and NBC News’ OTT apps on Roku, Fire TV and Apple TV.
