Today, Disney announced that Monday Night NFL Football will be returning to ABC along with ESPN. This comes as ABC is looking to fill its nightly schedule as shows it had counted on won’t be ready because of the writers and actors’ strike, according to a report from the The Wrap.
In a statement on its website ABC said:
ABC is the place to be for NFL football and, specifically, Monday Night Football 2023! The rich tradition of athletic competition established by ABC Sports continues with ESPN on ABC as the Cleveland Browns take on the Pittsburgh Steelers LIVE MONDAY 8:15 ET/5:15 PT. There will still be three Monday Night Football games exclusive to ESPN.
ESPN has had Monday Night Football rights since 2006. This change means for the first time since 2005, most Monday MNF games will air on ABC nationally this year.
