If you’ve ever wished you could spend a little more time in Mayberry, MeTV is giving you an entire month to do just that.
The network is bringing back its annual “The Month of Mayberry” programming event, running from May 3 through May 29, with a lineup packed full of classic episodes, reunion specials, and themed weeks celebrating The Andy Griffith Show. It’s a full nostalgia trip for longtime fans and an easy entry point for anyone discovering the series for the first time.
The event kicks off in a big way, with Return to Mayberry, the 1986 made-for-TV movie that reunited the original cast, airing on Sunday, May 3 at 2 p.m. ET/PT. Later in the week, fans can revisit The Andy Griffith Show Reunion: Back to Mayberry, airing Friday, May 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, featuring Andy Griffith, Ron Howard, Don Knotts, and more reflecting on the show’s legacy.
A Month of Classic Episodes With Weekly Themes
Beginning Monday, May 4, MeTV will air back-to-back episodes of The Andy Griffith Show every weeknight at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, each week built around a different theme highlighting the characters that made Mayberry unforgettable.
Week 1 (May 4–7): All About Andy
The month starts by focusing on Sheriff Andy Taylor himself, with standout episodes like The Pickle Story, where Aunt Bee’s cooking creates a hilarious dilemma, and Man in a Hurry, which contrasts Mayberry’s slow pace with the outside world.
Week 2 (May 11–15): The Fife Is Right
Barney Fife takes center stage with fan favorites like Barney’s First Car, The Bank Job, and Barney Gets His Man, showcasing Don Knotts’ iconic comedic performance.
Week 3 (May 18–22): The Best of the Rest
This week celebrates the broader Mayberry crew, including Aunt Bee, Gomer, Goober, Floyd, Otis, and Ernest T. Bass. Episodes like Aunt Bee the Warden and Gomer the House Guest highlight just how deep the show’s bench of characters really was.
Week 4 (May 25–29): Father and Son
The final week shifts to the heart of the series, Andy and Opie, with memorable episodes like Opie the Birdman, Mr. McBeevee, and Opie and the Bully, all showcasing the show’s emotional core.
Additional Highlights From the Schedule
While the themed weeks carry the bulk of the programming, there are plenty of individual standouts sprinkled throughout the month:
- May 4: Citizen’s Arrest and The Pickle Story kick things off with classic Andy and Barney dynamics
- May 6: Andy on Trial and Jailbreak highlight some of the show’s more story-driven episodes
- May 12: The Bank Job and Barney Gets His Man deliver peak Barney chaos
- May 21: My Fair Ernest T. Bass brings one of the show’s most memorable characters front and center
- May 27: Opie’s Charity and Opie and the Bully lean into the father-son storytelling that defined the series
