The battle to be the biggest and best free streaming service is heating up. Recently Local Now topped 500 free live TV channels making it one of the largest free streaming services for cord cutters when looking at the number of free live channels.

Recently Local Now told Cord Cutters News that the average viewer will see 492 with a mix of local and national channels, including PBS live in about half of all markets. Some channels are only offered in some areas. Local Now also offers over 20,000 on-demand titles with a great selection of movies and television shows just encase 500 live channels are not enough.

Local Now still focuses heavily on news. WIth the service you can get localized news, weather, sports, traffic, and entertainment, produced by various leading news organizations in more than 225 markets across the U.S.

This all comes as early in 2023 Local Now announced a deal to add all local PBS stations. Currently, these stations are live in about half of the markets already with more on the way. No dates have been announced yet for when all of the local PBS stations will be added other than it should happen in 2023.

“The addition of local PBS stations is a major achievement for Local Now and cements our position as the leader of free-streaming local news and entertainment in America,” said Byron Allen, Founder/Chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group, the parent company of Local Now told Deadline. “Viewers of all ages know and love PBS, and soon they will be able to stream this amazing content for free, anytime.”

The Local Now app is available on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xfinity, Vizio, Samsung, Android, and IOS devices. (www.LocalNow.com)
