This week Cord Cutters News staff found the current Chromecast With Google TV on clearance at Staples physical stores for just $11 brand new. It was marked as a clearance item and raised questions about why Staples would be selling the current HD Chromecast for just $11. Sadly this deal seems to be only in stores and at our local Staples they are now sold out.

This is the kind of behavior we often see before a new model comes out so what do we know about a possible new Chromecast? Today we will break down everything we know about a potential new Chromecast.

First, let me explain this new Ask Luke series. We often get the same questions repeated from multiple people. When we see that happen, we will post them here as part of an Ask Luke series. This gives me (Luke) and the Cord Cutters News staff an opportunity to answer common questions for everyone to see.

So, will we be getting a new Chromecast With Google TV?

Back in January, 9to5Google spotted a new Chromecast in the Google Home app ever since that news of a new Chromecast with Google TV has been quiet. According to 9to5Google they expect this new model to be a higher-end Chromecast with better speeds than the current model on the market right now.

We have already had a new Google TV dongle from Walmart for $19.88 Google TV Onn dongle. This new device will be one of the cheapest 4K Google TV devices on the market. Plus for the price, it will be one of the most powerful devices for the price.

This new device is fairly powerful for the price, with 2GB of ram and a respectable processor. Though compared to the $50 Chromecast with Google TV 4K, this device is not as powerful, but for less than half the price, it is a good deal.

Walmart is also reportedly working on a new Google TV device. According to an FCC filing spotted by Zatz Not Funny, Walmart is building a new Google TV streaming stick that will offer HD video and could cost around $15, according to Dave Zatz.

Recently Google has been investing heavily into Google TV. Releasing a new Chromecast device would fit into this strategy.

Google is expected to announce the new Pixel 8 this fall. That event could also be a great place to release a new Chromecast at the same time.
