Is a New Amazon Fire TV Edition Smart TV Coming Out Soon? We Take a Look…

Over the last few weeks, Amazon has been having sale after sale of its Fire TV Edition smart TVs made by Toshiba and Insignia. This is typical behavior for Amazon just before a new product hits the market. Amazon uses sales like this to sell stock for product people may not want once they hear about a new product.

A sale alone is not unusual, but a sale for weeks on end and ever-lowering prices do make it look like Amazon is about to roll out new TVs. This is also in line with Amazon typically rolling out new Fire TVs every year. It has now been about a year since Amazon announced a new set of Amazon Fire TV Edition smart TVs.

Should we expect a new Fire TV Edition smart TV?

It is very likely that we will be seeing a new Fire TV Edition smart TV from Amazon. When is unknown. Just because products are on sale now does not mean new TVs will come out this month. Amazon has a history of letting products sit as sold out for weeks or even a month before announcing a new product.

Why would Amazon update its TVs?

Amazon is locked in a fight with Roku and Android TV-powered TVs. Roku has new 8K TVs and updated TVs with a far better 4K picture coming on the market this year. With Roku and Fire TV Edition smart TV both being about the same price it is very likely Amazon is looking at ways to offer an upgraded version of their TVs that can match the Roku TVs announced at CES in January.

For now, we will have to wait and see what Amazon does next. What we do know is if you want a cheap TV, the Amazon Fire TV Edition smart TVs are a great buy right now.
