On May 16th, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced at The Walt Disney Company’s Upfronts Presentation the Indiana Jones franchise will begin streaming on Disney+ and Paramount+ starting May 31st. All four films and the television series The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones will be available.

Back in 2013, Disney got the franchise rights although the franchise has yet to debut on Disney+ as the films stayed under Paramount’s control. The deal also outlined Paramount gets “financial participation on any future films that are produced and released.”

The two studios recently finalized an updated shared rights deal, which grants Disney franchise rights to the franchise just before the fifth and final film is released this summer. Five films have been the plan for this franchise since negotiations took place back in the late 1970s before the first film was even created.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is directed by James Mangold and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel alongside Steven Spielberg and George Lucas as executive producers. This is the first film in the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg or written by George Lucas. John Williams, who has scored each film in the franchise, returns to compose the dramatic music for the final film.

Reprising his role for a final time, Harrison Ford stars alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny takes place in 1969 during the heat of the Space Race. The U.S. government has recruited former nazis to get to space before the Soviet Union. NASA scientist Jürgen Voller aims to make the world a “better place” according to his views. Along with his goddaughter Helena, Jones must race against time to retrieve a legendary artifact that can change the course of history.

Disney+ members will get early access to special merchandise via shopDisney, including an Indiana Jones Ear Headband, RSVLTS Apparel, Pin, Funko Pop, and more.

The concluding film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny premieres on June 30th exclusively in theaters.
