TV RemoteWhile paid streaming services are great for live channel streaming and new content, free streaming services have a lot to offer in a cord cutting setup. Today, we’re looking at two free services – IMDb TV and STIRR.

IMDb TV

This free streaming service from Amazon launched in January with the name Freedive. After the name change to IMDb TV, the app and website have seen a lot of changes including adding thousands of titles to its content library.

IMDb TV is now available on iOS and Android devices as well as being available as a free channel on Fire TV and on the Prime Video app. While IMDb TV currently has on-demand content only, Amazon is reportedly planning to add live content in the future. Check back often for newly added content and themed categories like Storming Area 51 and the recent Halloween themed October lineup.

Browse these categories to find exactly what you want to watch. (Remember that categories change often!)

STIRR

STIRR reached the major milestone of 1 million downloads in October and is showing no signs of slowing down. When you visit the website, you’ll start by choosing the location for your local news. If you don’t see a city close to you, STIRR recommends choosing Washington D.C for news from the capital. After signing in, you’ll find a little bit of everything, including live local news, TV series, live sports, movies, the latest viral videos, and more. Check the channel guide for live TV or browse on-demand content by genre.

STIRR has been busy adding new channels, now offering over 70 live channels and over 3000 hours of on-demand content. You can browse through these categories or check out the full guide for live TV.
