Do you use T-Mobile as your wireless provider? You may soon need to change how you pay if you want to keep your $5-a-month discount for using auto-pay.

Currently, if you auto-pay with a bank account, debit card, or credit card, you can get a $5 discount on your bill. Now according to CNET soon, that discount will only apply to customers paying with a bank account or debit card.

It seems that T-Mobile is trying to get out of the fees that come with a credit card payment. Merchants like T-Mobile have to pay fees to process payments when using a credit card that does not apply to other methods. By moving customers off of credit cards, it can help T-Mobile save on its operating costs.

The sad news for customers is if you like to get rewards from using your credit card, you are out of luck if you also want the $5 a month discount.

T-Mobile is not alone in charging more for credit cards or offering discounts to use a bank or debit card to pay. A growing number of companies have been pushing customers to cheaper payment options in recent years.
