Hulu Reaches a Deal to Keep ABC, CBS, FOX, & NBC Stations Owned By Nexstar

Today Nexstar and Disney announced a multi-year agreement that will keep local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC stations owned by Nexstar on Hulu’s live TV service. This deal will also include the company’s independent and MyNetworkTV affiliates.

Here is what Nexstar announced today:

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) (“Nexstar”) today announced that it has reached a comprehensive multi-year distribution agreement with Hulu. The deal covers 122 of the company’s local television stations, including the launch of the company’s MyNetworkTV affiliates and independent stations, and the continued carriage of its cable news network, NewsNation, on Hulu + Live TV. Financial terms of the agreement were not released.

Nexstar owns or is partnered with over 200 stations across the united states. This includes stations in 116 markets that reach 212 million people.

This deal comes just over a week after Hulu agreed to a new deal with Sinclair to bring back Sinclair-owned ABC affiliates.

  • Winston Salem, NC
  • Hayes Center, NE
  • Rochester, NY
  • Columbus, OH
  • Dayton, OH
  • Tulsa, OK
  • Portland, OR
  • Johnstown, PA
  • Charleston, SC
  • Myrtle Beach, SC
  • Abilene, TX
  • San Angelo, TX
  • Lynchburg, VA
  • Seattle, WA
  • Charleston, WV
  • Chattanooga, TN

This comes as Hulu has recently rolled out a new user interface. Now when you open Hulu on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, and more, you get this message “over the next few weeks, Hulu’s navigation menu will move to the left side of the screen on living room devices. Press “back” to open the menu for easy access to TV, Movies, My Stuff, and more.

At this time, the new user interface should be live on most streaming players and smart TVs.
