Marvel is no stranger to making shows for online services. Recently it had a deal with Netflix to release several well-received shows. Now it is teaming up with Hulu to bring Marvel’s well-loved “Runaways” to Hulu.
From the creators of “Gossip Girl” Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the pilot is based on Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man) and Adrian Alphona’s comic series. It centers on a group of teens who discover that their parents are part of an evil crime organization. Written by Schwartz and Savage, “Runaways” will focus on six diverse teens who barely can stand each other but who unite to fight a common foe: their parents.
Gregg Sulkinis is set as Chase Stein, a lacrosse-playing high school heartthrob. While many write him off as a dumb jock, Chase exhibits flashes of untapped brilliance in engineering, not unlike his wildly successful father’s. Other big names will include Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, and Allegra Acosta.
“I’m so excited for fans of the comic to watch this perfect cast of amazing actors, all of whom embody the spirit of their characters more than I ever could have imagined,” said “Runaways” comic co-creator and series executive consultant Vaughn.
Right now we have no set date for the show to hit Hulu because it has not even started production. Yet the growing list of confirmed cast members hopefully means we will see “Runaways” come to Hulu sometime in 2017.
