Yesterday at the Pay-TV Show in Denver, TDG announced that Hulu has over 2 million subscribers, making Hulu the second-largest live TV streaming service just behind Sling TV.
For sometime now it has been rumored that Hulu has been seeing strong live TV growth. Now, according to TDG, that growth is confirmed as Hulu is now the second-largest live TV streaming service in the United States.
DIRECTV NOW used to hold that position, but recently has been losing subscribers. YouTube TV has also seen strong growth but has not publicly announced numbers. According to TDG, some sources have put YouTube TV’s subscriber numbers close to 1 million subscribers.
Some services like Philo have never released subscriber numbers. This makes getting an honest look at the total number of subscribers hard, but TDG suggests that live TV streaming services now have over 8 million subscribers. This is still well behind the reported 35 million cord cutters in the United States.
