According to reports from Deadline, Hulu is near a deal with Kristen Bell to reprise her role as Veronica Mars in the series of the same name. The deal would be for a new season of Veronica Mars and a follow-up movie.

Veronica Mars first aired for three seasons between 2004–2007 on UPN and then on The CW. The show was a hit for both networks and in 2013, a Kickstarter raised $3.7 million in a matter of hours and the movie was released in 2014.

Hulu is the second streaming service to attempt a revival of the show. After the success Netflix had bringing back the Gilmore Girls, Hulu is now hoping to have the same success with Veronica Mars.

Details are still thin, but any deal will likely mean a 2019 release date at the earliest. Both Hulu and Warner Bros TV declined to comment on the reported deal.

We will post updates as we learn more. For now, it looks like a deal is close to being done.
