Today Hulu announced that they have added 4K support to Vizio SmartCast 4K TVs. This comes just one week after Hulu added 4K support to select Roku players and Roku TVs.
Not all Hulu content is available in 4K but a growing number of Hulu originals and on-demand content will now stream in 4K on supported devices. For now, Hulu’s live TV service does not offer 4K streaming.
Here are the suggested speeds Hulu suggests if you want to stream 4K:
- Standard Definition (SD): 1.5 Mbps
- High Definition (HD) 720p: 3 Mbps
- High Definition (HD) 1080p: 6 Mbps
- 4K Ultra HD: 16 Mbps
Here are the devices Hulu says they now support with 4K:
- Apple TV (5th generation or later)
- Chromecast Ultra
- Fire TV and Fire TV Stick
- LG TVs (2017-2018 UHD models)
- Roku and Roku Stick (3810X, 3920X, 4400X and 46*0X models)
- Xbox One
- Vizio SmartCast 4K TVs
There is no additional fee for 4K content and you’ll automatically get the 4K experience when watching Hulu with your 4K compatible Vizio SmartCast TVs.
