Howard Stern announced during his show Tuesday morning that he has made a deal with SiriusXM to continue “The Howard Stern Show” for three more years.
“I’m happy to announce that I’ve figured out a way to have it all,” Stern said. “More free time, and continuing to be on the radio. So yes, we are coming back for three years.”
The show’s X account shared the announcement after Stern shared the news live.
There were questions about the show’s future earlier this year. Sources said that Sirius wasn’t willing to meet Stern’s salary demands. After a 20 year partnership, those sources said Sirius was willing to walk away and, while he didn’t want to let down show staff, Stern reportedly said he was considering retiring.
Soon after that report, at an event on September 3, SiriusXM leadership commented that they were optimistic about renewing the deal and keeping the show on the platform.
Finally, on Monday this week, Stern told his audience to tune in Tuesday for the news. “I’ll make an announcement about my future,” he said. “Maybe the audience won’t tune in, but I know the staff will.”
“The Howard Stern Show” airs exclusively on SiriusXM, with content on two channels for new and classic shows, which have aired on the platform since 2006: Howard 100 (Ch. 100) and Howard 101 (Ch. 101).
