NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas will be the site where a new king of college football will be crowned during the 2024 College Football Playoffs National Championship Game. No. 2 Washinton Huskies (14-0) will take on No. 1 Michigan Wolverines (14-0) in a battle of the undefeated for all of the marbles.
Officially known as the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship presented by AT&T, will feature a rematch of the 1993 Rose Bowl, in which, the Wolverines defearted the Huskies 38-31. The showdown in H-Town will be the 14th time these programs have met, with Michigan leading the all-time series 8-5. In the postseason, they’ve met four times and are split 2-2.
With Washington leaving the Pac-12 and joining the Big Ten in 2024, this game could be the spark of new rivalry fans will come to enjoy years to come. Michigan, who are the champions of the Big Ten, defeated Alabama in the Rose Bowl to secure their title spot and making this the first time a SEC school did not advance to the finals in CFP history. The Huskies defeated the Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl, who coincidentally will be leaving the Big 12 for the SEC in 2024, to advance to the title game.
This is the last time the CFP will feature four teams as next year’s expansion will bring the field to 12. Cord cutters will not want to miss this historic night and can find out how to watch the 2024 CFP National Championship game, below.
