The largest inclusive sporting event in the world has returned with the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 taking place at Brandenburg Gate.
Over 7,000 athletes from 180 global delegations will gather to compete in 26 sports from June 17 to June 25. With over 220 hours of competition coverage, fans will not miss any of the action during the World Games.
ESPN’s family of networks will broadcast the event with a 3-hout telecast for the World Games Opening Ceremony kicking things off. The ceremony will be hosted by Kevin Neghandi, Jen Lada, and Special Olympics athlete Daina Shilts. Tim Tebow and Julie Foudy will serve as reporters during the ceremony and Good Morning America‘s Robin Robers will be the Master of the Ceremony.
“It’s an absolute privilege for all of us at ESPN and The Walt Disney Company to tell the stories of inclusion, unity, and teamwork by athletes with intellectual disabilities competing from around the world at Special Olympics World Games in Berlin,” said Kevin Martinez, Vice President of ESPN Corporate Citizenship. “The Special Olympics movement promotes acceptance, camaraderie and human potential in ways that can only be accomplished through sport.”
