WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina is the home of The Soccer Tournament.
The inaugural four-day tournament was created by the same minds as The Basketball Tournament which has gained popularity. 32 teams from 8 countries will compete in a 7v7, single-elimination winner-take-all tournament for a prize of $1 million. Plenty of stars will be seen during the event including Cesc Fabregas, Heather O’Reilly, Chris Wondolowski, Jermaine Jones, Chad Ochocinco, Steve Nash, and Ryan Reynolds’ and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham Red Dragons.
Nash, Fabregas, Ochocino, and Noah Beck are a few of the notable players that will be taking the field. Some of the 7v7 teams will feature established and notable European clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, West Ham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wrexham, and Como 1907. Other clubs that’ll be taking the pitch at the four-day tournament include Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv, MLS club Charlotte FC, Liga MX’s Club Necaxa, Clint Dempsey’s Team Dempsey, and US Women, a team of former U.S. Women’s National Team players organized by Heather O’Reilly and coached by the legendary Mia Hamm.
