Right now the NHL has become a fairly easy sport for cord cutters to follow, but it was not always that way. A few years ago it was almost impossible to watch many NHL games unless you paid for cable TV.
But now you no longer need a two-year contract with crazy high hidden fees to watch the NHL. The following is our full guide to watching the NHL on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, & more.
Watching Your Home Games
The first thing you need to find out is what network your team plays on. Is it FOX Sports regional sports networks or NBC Sports regional? (NBC Sports regional used to be called Comcast Sports Nets.)
The good news is most of these regional sports networks stream on services such as Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, AT&T TV NOW, Hulu, and others. At this time all major live TV streaming services carry both regional sports networks and NBC Sports.
The following are options to watch NHL without cable TV:
Sling TV starts at $25 a month and also offers a 7-day free trial. With Sling TV you will get access to most regional sports networks including most NBC Sports. (Fox Sports Networks are currently dark on Sling TV.)
Hulu With Live TV costs just $44.99 ($39 if you already have Hulu on-demand) with a free trial for new customers. Not only will you get your regional sports networks in most areas but also your local NBC station.
YouTube TV is just $49.99 and includes most locals and most regional sports networks.
PlayStation Vue starts at $45 a month and offers a 5-day free trial with most locals and regional sports networks.
AT&T TV NOW starts at $50 a month and includes many sports channels but if you want your RSNs you will need to get the $70 a month Max plan. You can also get a 7-day free trial to test out the service before you pay.
If you live out of market you may want to checkout NHL.TV. There you can stream out of market games and watch replays of NHL games you missed.
