The fourth and final Grand Slam tournament is finally here as the best tennis players in the world compete at the 2023 US Open Tennis Championships. The two-week tournament began in 1881 and has been played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center since 1978. This year’s tournament begins on Monday, August 28, and concludes on Sunday, September 10.
As one of the oldest championships in the sport, the US Open is a prestigious event. There are 5 primary championships: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Matches are decided on hard outdoor courts as players compete for a share of the $65 million in prize money.
