The biggest tournament in women’s soccer has returned as the best players in the world compete at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The monthlong tournament begins on July 20 and concludes on August 20 with New Zealand taking on Norway and Ireland playing Australia on opening day.

Australia and New Zealand will serve as the host countries for this year’s tournament which makes it the 9th edition of the tournament and the first time two countries will serve as hosts. As another first, 32 teams will compete in this year’s event, which is 8 more than the 24 that previously played.

The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) return as the defending champions and are looking for a three-peat after winning in 2015 and 2019. They won’t take the field until Friday, July 21 when they take on Vietnam and you can check out the full group schedule at the bottom of the page.
