The best hockey players in the National Hockey League will get to show off their talents during the 2022 NHL All-Star Skills presented by DraftKings. T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will host this year’s skills competition, which will feature seven events featuring the NHL’s top talent and special guests. The individual winners of each competition will earn $30,000.
Special guests for this weekend’s events in Sin City include Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras, the first woman to ever play in an NHL game Manon Rhéaume, actor Wyatt Russell, 3-time Olympic medalist Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson, and more to be announced.
The Events – Rules & Formats
Of the 7 events in this year’s NHL Skills competition, Verizon NHL Fastest Skater, Dunkin’ NHL Save Streak, EA NHL Hardest Shot, and Adidas NHL Breakaway Challenge are returning events. Las Vegas NHL 21 in ’22 and the Discover NHL Fountain Face-Off are two new events for this year’s contest.
Las Vegas NHL 21 in ’22 will be a hockey-themed game of Blackjack taking place on Las Vegas Boulevard. The game of chance, skill, and strategy will see players attempt to achieve a hand of 21 without going bust by shooting at a deck of oversized cards. Whichever player is able to do so in the least number of shots, at the end of two rounds, will be crowned Puck Shark.
The Discover NHL Fountain Face-Off is a skills competition that will take place from the Bellagio Fountains. Players will have to travel by boat to the “rink” and whoever is able to hit all 5 targets in the least amount of time will be crowned the winner. To make things more difficult, players will have to deal with elements such as the Fountain spray and the breeze off The Strip. Qualifying players will move on to the head-to-head final.
