Snowfall, FX’s most-watched series of 2021, returns tonight for season 5. Created by the late John Singleton & Eric Amadio, the fifth season of the crime drama will take a closer look at the crack epidemic and the impact it had throughout the mid-80s, including real-life events such as the death of basketball star Len Bias. Below is the official trailer for season 5:
Season 5 will be set a year after the events of season 4, Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) and his entire family will have to navigate through confrontations with warring gangs, the CIA, police, and each other, all set to the backdrop of the streets of South Central Los Angeles.
Other returning characters for season 5 include Terry McDonald (Carter Hudson), Gustavo ‘El Oso’ Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), Cissy Saint (Michael Hyatt), Jerome Saint (Amin Joseph), Aunt Louie (Angela Lewis), Leon Simmons (Isaiah John), Avi Drexler (Alon Moni Aboutboul), with Veronique (Devyn Tyler) joining as a new character.
Snowfall will start its newest season off with a bang, as the season opener will feature 2 new episodes back-to-back. “Comets” will air first as the season premiere, and “Commitment” will directly follow. Both episodes were written by Dave Andron and Leonard Chang with Ben Younger handling directorial duties on each.

FX will be the home of the season 5 Snowfall premiere, which will be a 2-hour event, with the first episode airing at 10 PM ET, and the second airing at 11 PM ET, on Wednesday, February 23.
