With a host of new and original content as well as classic titles in its lineup, Disney+ is one of the most popular streaming services to hit the market, as highlighted in our Disney Plus review. It features iconic Disney titles like 101 Dalmatians, Bambi, Dumbo, Mary Poppins, and The Lion King, to name a few.

Not to mention an extensive list of Marvel and Pixar productions as well as all 11 movies from the Star Wars franchise. Use our Disney Plus movies and shows list to find out all the titles available on the service.

One of the top perks of a Disney Plus subscription is that it allows you to stream from up to 4 devices at the same time. And the service is available on a wide range of devices — from your mobile and tablet to your desktop and your streaming media player. You can even get it on select gaming consoles, so you don’t have to invest in an additional streaming device.

This post shows you how to watch Disney Plus on PS4 and Xbox One so you can enjoy it across all your devices.

Is the Disney Plus app available on all PS4 and Xbox One devices?

The Disney Plus PS4 app supports all three PS4 models – the classic PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PlayStation 4 Slim.

As for the Disney Plus Xbox One app, you can get it on your Xbox One, Xbox One S, or Xbox One X console.

On both devices, the Disney Plus app comes as a free download. And you can use it to enjoy a 7-day free trial of the service from these devices. As highlighted in our review of Disney Plus pricing and deals, the length of the free trial doesn’t change no matter which device you use.

After the free trial, you can continue your subscription for $7.99/mo. or $13.99/mo. if you get the bundle offer with Hulu and ESPN+. This bundle might just be the right option for you if you’re looking for a comprehensive streaming experience. Learn more about it in our Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu bundle review to see if it’s the right fit for you.

How to download Disney Plus on PS4

The process to get Disney Plus on PS4 is pretty straightforward. First, go to the PlayStation Store from your PS4 device. From here, use the search bar to find the Disney Plus PS4 app, then click on the result to access the page. Click on “Download,” and it’ll install in just a few seconds.

After it finishes installing, click on “Start” to begin streaming Disney Plus on PS4. Otherwise, you can also access it later from the “TV & Video” section. If you’ve already signed up for the service, you just need to log in to your Disney Plus account. But you also have the option to sign up for the free trial from here.

The app interface is simple and easy to use. It highlights featured titles as a slideshow at the top of the screen, and just below it you can see the leading networks and franchises available on the service. This includes Disney, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and Star Wars.

The interface also highlights Disney Plus original content right after these two sections, which makes it easy to access some of the latest titles available on the service. There are also sections for personalized recommendations, hit movies, and so on.

One of the best parts about the Disney Plus interface on PS4 is that you won’t find settings and other buttons cluttering up the screen. At the same time, they’re not too hard to find and access from the vertical bar at the left-hand corner of the screen.

PS4 compatibility

Disney Plus is available on all three PlayStation 4 devices, but not on older consoles like PS3. For a better streaming experience, however, make sure all your PlayStation components can support high-bandwidth digital content.

How to download Disney Plus on Xbox One

The process of getting Disney Plus on Xbox One is equally straightforward. First, visit the Microsoft Store from your Xbox One device. Use the search bar to find the app and then click on it from the recommendations. From the app page, click on the “Install” button to start your download.

The installation takes just a few seconds, after which you can click on the “Launch” button to start streaming. You can log in directly if you already have a Disney Plus account, or click on “Try Now” to sign up for the free trial from Xbox One.

As for the app interface, it isn’t any different from what you can see on PS4. The structuring of sections is exactly the same, with featured titles at the top of the page, then leading franchises and personalized recommendations. Additionally, the settings and other buttons are accessible from a vertical sidebar that expands when you select it.

Xbox One compatibility

Disney Plus is available on three Xbox One consoles – Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X. But you won’t get it on older consoles like Xbox 360. Even on these Xbox One consoles, you need to make sure that every component supports high-bandwidth digital content.

Are there 4K streaming options for Disney Plus on PS4 and Xbox One?

While Disney Plus offers a decent selection of 4K content, older PS4 and Xbox One devices will only let you stream in up to 1080p. To stream these titles in 4K high dynamic range (HDR), you need the PlayStation 4 Pro, the Xbox One S, or the Xbox One X along with an external display that supports high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) 2.2.

What else should I know about Disney Plus on PS4 and Xbox One?

Although you won’t face any major problems with Disney Plus on your PS4 and Xbox One devices, you might occasionally face streaming interruptions due to connectivity issues. When this happens, try refreshing your connection or signing in and out of Disney Plus.

Another common problem is with starting the app while having your HDCP disabled, as this is the main feature that protects copyrighted content during streaming. To fix this issue on PS4, go to your system settings and select “Enable HDCP.”

The process is a little bit complicated on Xbox One as there’s no specific button to enable or disable HDCP. Some users have been able to fix the issue by using the energy-saving mode.

If you face any other issues accessing Disney Plus on your PS4 or Xbox One, reach out to the Disney Plus support team through phone or live chat.

Regardless of which gaming console you have, Disney Plus provides you with a straightforward interface and an exceptional streaming experience. So make sure you sign up for the free trial to start watching your favorite classics as well as hit originals and latest releases.
