Eight years after the series finale, Dexter has made its long-awaited return with Dexter: New Blood. The revival series will be set approximately 10 years after the season 8 finale in the fictional town of Iron Lake, New York.

The show will pick up with Dexter Morgan living under the name of Jim Lindsay, a local shopkeeper. Since the conclusion of the original series, Dexter has suppressed his urges, and is still close to law enforcement, as he’s in a relationship with Iron Lake’s chief of police. Things become dire after a string of incidents occur around the small town and Dexter fears that his urges have returned and his “dark passenger” has revealed itself.

Based on the Dexter novels by Jeff Lindsay, showrunner Clyde Phillips returns for the 10-episode limited series. Franchise star Michael C. Hall will reprise his role as Dexter Morgan, who has changed his identity to Jim Lindsay, a local shopkeeper. Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter) will be returning as Dexter’s imaginary iteration of her. Jack Alcott will portray Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan/Randall in the revival series. The show will feature a cameo from John Lithgow as Arthur Mitchell aka the Trinity Killer.

New Blood will feature plenty of new faces. Clancy Brown (as Kurt Caldwell), Julia Jones (as Chief of Police Angela Bishop), Alano Miller (as Logan), Johnny Sequoyah (as Audrey), and David Magidoff (as Teddy) will join Hall in the main cast. Jamie Chung (as Molly) and Oscar Wahlberg (as Zach) will join the show as recurring characters. Behind the lens, Marcos Siega is set to direct the first 6 episodes.
