Charles Lee “Chucky” Ray, one of the most iconic killer dolls in cinematic history, was introduced to the world 33 years ago. Created by Don Mancini, Chucky has become a staple of pop culture since he made his debut in Child’s Play, back in 1988. After the success of its initial release, the franchise is one of the most financially profitable horror franchises with an adjusted gross of over $330 million worldwide, which includes 6 sequels and a 2019 reboot. Critically, Child’s Play has been praised for its humor, visual effects, and was the winner of the 2014 Saturn Award for Best DVD/Blu-Ray Collection ( “Chucky: The Complete Collection”).

Over the years, the franchise has expanded past film, with merchandise, comics, books, video games, and now, just in time for Halloween, a television series. Named after the serial-killing doll, Chucky is a black-comedy slasher that will serve as a direct sequel to the seventh film in the series, Cult of Chucky.

Franchise creator Don Mancini returns as series creator and as a writer for the series, based on the red-headed Good Guys doll that is possessed by a serial killer. Other familiar faces that will be returning as part of the main cast include Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky, and Alex Vincent, Christine Elise McCarthy, and Fiona Dourif will reprise their roles as Andy Barclay, Kyle, and Nica Pierce, respectively. Jennifer Tilly will make her return as Tiffany Valentine in a recurring role. The series will also feature Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Barbara Alyn Woods, Lexa Doig, and Björgvin Arnarson as regulars. Final Destination star Devon Sawa will round out the cast in an undisclosed role. Check out the final trailer for the series below.
