Do you have YouTube TV with T-Mobile 5G Home Internet or Verizon 5G Home Internet? Both work with YouTube TV but for a small number of people you may find yourself getting the wrong local channels.

This typically happens when people live close to the edge of a TV market and the internet provider incorrectly lists them as just outside of that TV market. This results in getting the wrong locals.

The good news is that YouTube TV will let you use your phone to confirm your location and you can get the correct locals on your TV.

Here is how to update your location for local channels with YouTube TV:

On a smart TV

If you’re watching with our TV app, you can update your current playback area (for example, if you’re traveling).

  1. Open the YouTube TV app on your TV.
  2. Select your profile photo  and then Location.
  3. Select Update next to “Current playback area.”
  4. On your mobile device, go to tv.youtube.com/verify. Allow the website to access your device’s location to update your current playback area.

On a mobile device

  1. Open YouTube TV.
  2. Select your profile photo  and then Location.
  3. Select Update next to “Current playback area.”

If we can’t correctly identify your location, you’ll be asked to go to tv.youtube.com/verify. Allow the website to access your device’s location (if you haven’t already) to verify the current playback area.

Troubleshoot Location Permissions

Still having trouble? Location permissions might be turned off on your device. You can check by following these steps.

  1. Open your device’s settings ''.
  2. Tap Apps and Notifications.
  3. Scroll to find YouTube TV in the apps list.
  4. Tap Permissions and then Location to view your current settings.
  5. To switch to a different setting, tap to select one of the other options listed.
