Yesterday many NFL fans ended up missing their favorite NFL team’s first preseason game because of old streaming contracts that didn’t grant YouTube TV, PlayStation Vue, Hulu, and more streaming rights. The good news is there are now ways around these blackouts thanks to fuboTV and Sling TV.
These blackouts are caused by some preseason games still airing under an older contract that did not include streaming rights. This all comes down to the fact that preseason NFL games have different TV contracts than regular-season NFL games. That is why some of them air on networks that typical do not air NFL games.
Now the best way to get around these blackouts is to use an antenna. Local TV stations do not blackout preseason games over the air with an antenna. But some streaming services are doing things to address blackouts.
To address this issue this week Sling TV and fuboTV added the NFL Network alternative feeds. This means if your game is blacked out on your local TV station you can now watch the game on the NFL Network’s alternative feeds through Sling TV and fuboTV. The best part is there is no contract so you can use these services during the preseason and switch to a different one for the regular NFL season if you want to.
Now not all games will have an NFL alternative bu fuboTV has made to show you how to get around the blackouts by listing what channels will offer each game:
